Belize International Yoga Festival @ Harbour View Greens
Dec 31 2016 @ 6:00 am – Jan 1 2017 @ 12:00 am

Rhythm of Change, (ROC) Om Shanti Belize is a secular, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and implementing activities that bring forth individual, social and environmental changes in our country.  We are proud to be using innovative approaches to peace building including yoga, meditation environmental consciousness and other forms of wellness. ROC Om Shanti, Belize has been engaged in several community outreach activities; attached are a few pictures of some of our recent engagements.

We are about to embark on its first large project, the Belize International Yoga Festival, which will take place on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2016 in Belize City. The festival is designed to bring together yoga and meditation practitioners, aspirants and the general public to enjoy soulful moments of wellness, healing, relaxation and reflection in order to promote more positive interactions that are vitally important for the well-being of our communities and country.

This all day event will include adult and children yoga classes, therapies, wellness information, food and drink. The signature event will be a yoga workshop and a night concert by internationally renowned musical star, MC YOGI whose Hip-hop music not only introduces yoga to mainstream audiences, but also promotes peace, love and harmonious relationships. Through all his concerts MC YOGI, who is also an ambassador for First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative, has demonstrated that he is an excellent electrifying performer.

The Belize International Yoga Festival, ROC’s signature annual fund raising event is the first of its kind in Central America. All indications are that as the first of its kind in Belize, such festival will nurture just what our country needs – positive, clean and an uplifting, fun event to sow the seeds of change against the increasing negative influences.

While we are working hard to make this event a success, we truly cannot do it alone. Confident that you are also committed to see positive social connections and upliftment in our country, we hereby invite you to join us at the first Belize International Yoga Festival.

Hopkins Mango Fest is Sweet to the Bone! @ Hopkins
Jun 2 @ 6:00 am – Jun 3 @ 11:45 pm

During this free, two-day festival, Mango Fest attendees enjoy mango-themed food offerings as well as non-mango dishes, browse locally made arts and crafts, while hearing the musical talent of Hopkins as well as other talented artists from around Belize and the world.

The Hopkins Mango Fest committe’s (HMF) goal is to promote Hopkins as a tourist destination in a fashion that builds on Hopkins uniqueness and promotes cultural preservation. This is done by featuring authentic Garifuna food and music through a clean, wholesome, culinary and culturally fun festival. It also provides economic opportunities during a time that has traditionally been referred to as “maga season” or thin season.

FOOD:
Hopkins is a blessed with an abundance of good food and is quickly becoming a culinary destination as there are about two dozen restaurants in our village of 2,500. Hopkins also has many “fast food” places that sell panades, street tacos, conch fritters, tamales, pastries, and other unique food items. The festival has a fusion of foods from all the cultures in Belize—Garifuna, Creole, Caribbean, European, and North American influences. Be prepared to sample such delights as mango chimole, chicken kebabs with mango salsa, ceviche, mango chutney, mango smoothies. There will also be many other non-mango food items such as the national dish of Belize-stew chicken, rice and beans, pizza, tacos, hamburgers, sausage on a stick, and much more!

MUSIC:
The Mango Fest Committee plans on featuring live music throughout the day that showcases the best of Belize and of Hopkins. Did you know three of the five members of the Garifuna Collective are from Hopkins? Plan on hearing Paranda music (Belize’s version of the blues,) Caribbean rhythms, Ray-gay, and much more. Check the Mango Fest Facebook Page regularly to see as the acts are confirmed for the festival.
