Every year Dia de San Pedro celebrations (San Pedro Day) pays homage to the island’s patron saint San Pedro (St. Peter) and under the organization of the San Pedro Town Council, the San Pedro House of Culture, NICH and the San Pedro Roman Catholic Church, residents celebrate with activities centered around honoring fishermen and the development of the town that grew on the foundation of a small fishing village. S.H.I.N.E. stands for Shaping Healthy Identities through Nurturing & Empowerment, encouraging young people and women in the community by provide resources for them to become who they are meant to be, and ultimately shine! Proceeds from this event will go toward the SHINE program for girls, Thrive – a high school empowerment program at San Pedro High School, and the SHINE Artisan Project which will help give business skills and opportunity to women.
